Man Utd news – Berbatov in PSG link, Park hints at exit, Welbeck wants Utd opportunity

Berbatov in PSG link.

According to the Daily Star, French Ligue 1 club PSG are trailing Dimitar Berbatov for a fee of around £10m.

The Parisians have recently been taken over by cash heavy Qatar Investments, who have promised new Coach Leonardo ample resource to end a 17 year title drought.

Despite being the Premier League’s joint top goalscorer last term with 20 goals, Berbatov lost his starting berth to Javier Hernandez towards the end of the campaign and was completely omitted from the Red’s Champions League Final squad against Barcelona.

There seems little way back into the fray for the erratic 30-year-old, who will not be short of suitors.

Park hints at exit.

Another established first team member possibly leaving Manchester United is South Korean ace Park Ji-Sung.

Terrace favourite Park has only just turned 30 and his place at Old Trafford was thought to be under no immediate threat.

However, the player himself has sparked rumours by telling Sky Sports: “I don’t know how long I will stay in Manchester.

“I don’t have much time left as a player so I might leave Manchester and retire at another team.”

Park has been used sparingly by Sir Alex Ferguson who usually opts to play the energetic midfielder in ‘big games’, but it may be that the player himself is after more regular first team football.

Welbeck wants Utd opportunity.

Berbatov’s departure from Old Trafford may also have been hastened by Sir Alex Ferguson’s faith in Danny Welbeck.

The 20-year-old will return to the club following a succesful loan spell at Sunderland in which he scored six goals.

His form at the Stadium of Light earned him a debut England cap during the friendly with Ghana in March

Welbeck was one of the only players to emerge from England U21’s European Championship farce with any credit, and will be blooded into the champions first team along with the likes of Tom Cleverley and new recruit Phil Jones.

Welbeck confirmed to SportingLife, “The manager said I’ll get opportunities. I’m still only 20 so I’m looking forward to it.”
