Man Utd news – Scholes testimonial announced, Vidic agent rejects exit talk, Evra expects more success

Evra expects more success.

Manchester United’s French defender Patrice Evra is certain that there will be more titles to follow after the record 19th title.

In an interview with Inside United Evra had a message for the fans: “Every time you’d go to a restaurant or walk down the street this season, the fans would talk about the 19th title. But I want to say to them now: we’re not finished yet. This is just the beginning. I know Manchester United can win more titles and we have to keep doing that.”

Evra also confirmed that Chelsea’s start to the season was unnerving but it was a boost for the United camp when they lost their first big test against Manchester City.  “The way things went at the beginning of the season didn’t scare me…It may sound strange but I was always confident.”

Paul Scholes testimonial announced.

Paul Scholes’ testimonial has been announced against the New York Cosmos for the 5th of August 2011 at Old Trafford. The 36-year-old midfielder will play for a Manchester United team against a Cosmos side managed by Eric Cantona. Speaking to Manutd.com the normally silent Scholes said: “This club is special in many ways but the fans are the best and I have always appreciated their support throughout my career. I hope they enjoy the night, especially seeing the Boss and Eric battling it out in front of the dug outs.”

Tickets are now on sale for Paul’s testimonial, priced at £20-£35 for adults, £15 for over-65s and £5 for under-16s.

Vidic agent rejects exit talk.

Nemanja Vidic’s agent has denied there is any truth to rumours that the Serbian central defender wants a transfer away from Manchester United.

Gossip linking Vidic to Barcelona due to his wife being unhappy in Manchester have persisted for years but his agent Silvano Martina was quoted as saying on Goal.com: “I read unworthy things in the English and Spanish newspapers. The only thing I can say is that Vidic has three years on his contract with Manchester United. They’re a club that are preparing to contest the final of the Champions League, not a Lega Pro team, and that I am the only agent at this moment and I have nothing new to say.”
