Young Chelsea right-back Michael Mancienne has been transferred to Hamburg in a permanent deal. The club confirmed on Tuesday that they had agreed terms with the Bundesliga side for the 23-year-old.
Mancienne who was often sent out on-loan by the Blues spent his last season at Wolves under Mick McCarthy. Unfortunately Michael suffered a knee injury, which limited him to making only 17 appearances in all competitions, which needless to say did not help in proving his worth to his parent club.
Mancienne now heads to Germany where he will re-unite with former Chelsea sporting director Frank Arnesen. The Dane has followed the development of Michael over the years and it could very well be his presence that lured the now former Chelsea starlet to Germany. It is also rumoured that Arnesen is looking to tempt more Chelsea youngsters away from Stamford Bridge this summer. No doubt a worrying fact for Roman Abramovich.
