Everton captain Phil Neville has revealed his disappointment in his side’s failure to break into the top four of the Premier League last season but insists the club can only improve in the future and that competing in the Champions League is only a matter of time.
The former Manchester United defender admitted that the Merseyside’s last season was a disappointment but insisted that the club are only going to improve in the future.
Neville went on to praise David Moyes and the Toffees’ youth academy and he believes both parties will play a huge role in the club’s future.
The 34-year-old told The Daily Star: “If you ask a lot of Evertonians I think they’d be quite disappointed with last season. There’s been a lot of negativity surrounding the club but we should snap out of that. I think we’re so close to something very special here.
“We’ve a manager who is not afraid to blood young players and I think the future is bright.”
