Tottenham news – Cole nears Spurs move, Modric to Utd links increase, Keane and Jenas in QPR switch

Modric to Utd links increase.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been told he must over in excess of £20 million for Spurs playmaker Luca Modric. The United manager has earmarked the Croatian as Paul Scholes’ long-term replacement.

A source for The Sun reports today that: “The word is Sir Alex has already spoken directly to Harry and said how much he admires Modric and how much he wants him. And as much as Harry wants to keep him he knows United can make an offer we just can’t refuse.”

Sources close to Spurs state that although they don’t want to sell they know a deal is inevitable.

Keane and Jenas in QPR switch.

Newly promoted QPR have targeted top flight experience in an attempt to remain in the Premier League next season. Their manager Neil Warnock has apparently set his sights on Robbie Keane and Jermaine Jenas.

A report in the Metro this morning suggests that Warnock has identified the Tottenham duo for next season. Jenas only started 14 games last season and could slip further down the pecking order if Redknapp secures the services of Scott Parker this summer. It is understood a fee of £7 million would be enough to secure his services.

Meanwhile, Robbie Keane has been told he is surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane and could join the newly promoted club on loan.

Cole nears Spurs switch.

The Metro has reported today that Joe Cole is set to end his nightmare stay at Liverpool and sign for Spurs. Initial reports have suggested that Spurs and Liverpool have agreed at £3 million fee.

It would see Cole re-united with his former manager Harry Redknapp. The pair worked closely during Redknapp’s spell at West Ham and Redknapp has always spoken very highly about his former player.

Cole is desperate to resurrect his career after a tough year at Liverpool after moving from Chelsea. The two clubs have apparently agreed a fee and the deal will go through once personal terms have been finalised.
