Tottenham news – Spurs target Diarra, Sunderland eye Crouch, Gallas: I proved Wenger wrong

Spurs target Diarra.

Tottenham are lining up a move for Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra according to talkSport. Spurs manager Harry Redknapp is keen to add another defensive midfielder and has also been linked with West Ham’s Scott Parker.

Diarra has been informed that he has no future at the Bernebeu after making little impression on Jose Mourinho since his arrival last summer. He played under Redknapp at Portsmouth and played some of the best football of his career.

The report suggests that Spurs will need to move quickly to secure a deal as Manchester United are also monitoring his situation.

Sunderland eye Crouch.

Steve Bruce hopes to bring Peter Crouch to the Sunderland this summer. With the impending departure of Jordan Henderson and the money remaining from Darren Bent’s move he has considerable funds to reinforce his squad.

The Daily Star reports that Crouch is top of Bruce’s wanted list this summer and a fee of £10 million should be enough to secure his services. Crouch rejected Bruce’s advances a couple of years ago when he was appointed as manager at the Stadium of Light.

Crouch endured a frustrating second season at Spurs and is rumoured to be considering his International future.

Gallas: I proved Wenger wrong.

Tottenham defender William Gallas has criticised former manager Arsene Wenger for letting him leave Arsenal. He stated that Arsenal made no effort to keep him and refused to make him a decent financial offer to remain at the club.

Gallas enjoyed a good debut season at White Hart Lane and told French magazine L’Equipe: “Did Arsene Wenger make a mistake in not keeping me? He made a choice, but indeed I believe he made a mistake. In the street Arsenal fans ask me why I left. The coach thought I was a finished player. I proved he was wrong.”

The French defender signed a two year deal with Spurs last summer.
