Arsenal look set to complete the signing of Lille striker Gervinho for a fee of around £10.7million. Widespread reports claim the Ivory Coast international, who scored 15 goals last season as Lille secured the Ligue 1 title, has agreed personal terms and is currently in London to undergo a medical. The player is believed to have agreed a four-year contract and it is thought his imminent arrival may trigger a further departure from the Arsenal camp, with Nicklas Bendtner repeatedly linked with moves after becoming frustrated with life on the fringes at The Emirates.

Nasri-Wenger showdown imminent.
Arsenal’s attacking midfielder Samir Nasri is due to report back to Arsenal for pre-season training today amid widespread reports the Frenchman is due to tell his manager, Arsene Wenger, that he is intent on a move away from the Emirates. Despite being offered a reported £90,000-a-week deal to compete with interest from Manchester City and Chelsea, it is suggested in today’s Daily Telegraph that Nasri will return to the Arsenal camp today, although the player is ‘ready to tell Arsene Wenger he wants to move to Manchester United’. However, The Times believe that Wenger will drive a hard bargain once again, and will press for in excess of £25million as elite European clubs continue to monitor the situation.
Barca to wait for Fabregas.
As Barcelona’s pursuit of Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas continues, the Catalan giants concede the protracted transfer saga looks to continue, but are willing to be patient in their attempts to recruit their former academy product. Fabregas’ former employers seem relatively unconcerned by reported interest from arch rivals, Real Madrid, according to Sky Sports, Barca vice-president Josep Bartomeu believes time is very much on their side, saying ‘The experience of the last few years and of last season shows us that we have right up until the last minute before the season starts.’
