Sunderland goalkeeper Craig Gordon is a target for Premier League giants Arsenal, after the Scotsman failed to secure a new deal, the Daily Mail reports.
Gordon signed for Sunderland for £7m back in August 2007 and started brightly before injuries derailed his form at the Stadium of Light. The 28 year old is out until August with a knee injury and only has a year left on his current deal at the Black Cats.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger revealed yesterday that he is looking to sell goalkeeper Manuel Almunia and Gordon could be the replacement at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners face competition from SPL side Celtic, who are interested in taking Gordon out on loan. Manchester City are also reportedly interested in taking Gordon to the Etihad Stadium.

Nasri headed “Somewhere else”?
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri has agreed to leave the Gunners, but not to his club, suggesting that Man City are now favourites to land the Frenchman‘s signature, BBC Sport reports.
Nasri had been linked with a move to Old Trafford, with the Gunners reportedly turning down a £20m bid from the Premier League champions, but the 24 year old will not join United. Ferguson spoke about the move in America for United’s pre-season tour, just hours after Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger had revealed that he intended to keep both Nasri and captain Cesc Fabregas.
Ferguson said: ‘I don’t think he is coming to United. That is all I can tell you. I think he has agreed to go somewhere else.’
The United boss also called Arsene Wenger ‘brave’ for indicating that he may keep the player until his final contract year and risk losing him for nothing. Nasri has also been linked with a move to Manchester City this summer and could join former Arsenal teammate Gael Clichy at Eastlands.
Bendtner Villa link.
Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner will leave the Emirates Stadium this summer and the clubs interested in the Dane are Aston Villa, Fulham and Bolton, according to the Metro.
Bendtner was left out of the club’s pre-season tour of Asia and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed that they are both possible departures from the club. Bendtner could be part of a cash plus player deal with Bolton for defender Gary Cahill, but the 23 year old seems to be keen on moving abroad. Arsenal have reportedly placed a £12m valuation on Bendtner, which no club has yet to match with any offers.
Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon and Germany’s Borussia Dortmund are also interested in the 6”5 striker, but are looking to pay around £8m for Bendtner. The 23 year old has scored 22 goals in almost 100 appearances at the club and has fallen out of favour with the Arsenal fans.
