As the Catalans moved a step closer to securing their 22-year-old Chilean target Sanchez for an initial fee of €27m, with further, substantial add-ons, it is thought his arrival opens the door for the Spanish Under-21 international Bojan to depart to Rome.
Roma’s director of sport Walter Sabatini had agreed an initial deal with the Barca No 9 and his club as long as a month ago. However, the delay in the transfer has been for two reasons – firstly the Blaugrana’s reluctance to sell him without first securing one of Sanchez or Giuseppe Rossi and secondly over the price of the buy-back clause inserted in his contract after the first two seasons in Italy.
These are now thought to be €10m after the first season and €15m after the second, with Roma expected to pay between €10m and €12m to secure the forward.
