The Telegraph is reporting that Chelsea may now consider a permanent deal for Scott Parker rather than the loan deal as originally thought.
With the injury to Michael Essien keeping him on the sidelines for at least six months a potentially all season, Chelsea are in the market for a combative central midfielder. With the England midfielder looking for a Premier League move, partly to maintain his international chances, there have been strong rumours linking Parker in a return to Stamford Bridge.
Initially, the preference may have been for a season long loan with Chelsea paying a fee of £4.5million and Parkers £65,000 a week salary. This would have suited both parties. Chelsea has cover for Essien and Parker would return to West Ham in a hopeful return to the top flight. However, with Aston Villa rumoured to be lining up a permanent bid, Chelsea might be forced into a permanent deal.
