Frank Lampard has gone on record saying he will not stop himself from attacking no matter which position he plays in, according to the Daily Mail. In Chelsea’s recent 4-0 friendly victory over Kitchee, Lampard was deployed as one of two holding midfielders as part of a new formation being tested by manager Andre Villas-Boas.
Lampard scored his second goal this pre-season during the game. However, despite his impressive attacking performance, it seems like Lampard could be deployed in a deep midfield role again, since questions are being asked whether the 33-year-old can keep up with the pace demanded by an advanced midfield role.
When asked about thoughts on his new holding position, the England international responded: “As long as I’m never told not to stray beyond the half way line, I’ll be happy. I’ve never been that kind of player anyway. Some people can play there but I don’t think so.”

Yossi abuse claims.
Chelsea have launched a formal complaint with the Malaysian FA following last Thursday’s game against the Malaysian XI, the Official Club Website announced. It had been observed during the game that Blues midfielder Yossi Benayoun was subjected to anti-Semitic abuse by a number of supporters.
With regards to why Chelsea are reporting the issue a week later, a club spokesperson stated: “The club did not make representations at the time as it was initially unclear as to the nature of abuse Yossi received.”
The stance taken by the club on the issue will no doubt be a morale boost to some of the players at Chelsea, who have endured their share of targeted abuse from the crowd at different times in their career.
Mikel exit talk.
Chelsea midfielder John obi Mikel could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge, according to reports from the Transfer Tavern. The Nigerian who was signed back in 2006 has often found himself on the bench serving as a deputy to Michael Essien.
Having picked up an impressive 158 appearances for the Blues, Mikel was being touted as a promising player with a bright future. However, his failure to register a Premier League goal for the club along with his defensive lapses of concentration on the field has left many to question his all-round contributions.
Rumours state that Chelsea are now prepared to listen to a bid from Juventus for the 24-year-old. The Blues are expected to offload Mikel if their evaluation of £15m is met.
