Wolfsburg midfielder Diego has confirmed he has received an offer from Spanish club Atletico Madrid.
The Brazlian international has had a career packed full of ups and downs with his spell at Wolfsburg being no different, getting fined on a number of occasions and falling out with members of the club’s staff.
Diego signed for the 2008/09 Bundesliga champions in the summer of 2010 for a fee of €15.5m (£13.6m) after a disappointing season in Serie A with Juventus, but following yet another below-par year he looks set to be on the move once again.
Speaking to German publication Kicker,
It is believed that the main stumbling-block Diego and any prospective move is his wage demands as he currently earns €4m per year. However, another potential suitor in Malaga may not have too many problems with coming up with the money given their current financial standing.
Despite question marks over where Diego will be plying his trade next season, he has made it clear he is not prepared to stay where is. He added: “I don’t want to be in Wolfsburg any longer.”
