Dier was born in Cheltenham and moved to Portugal at the age of seven. He joined the Portuguese giants at eight-years-old and was being tracked by Manchester United before he signed a professional contract with the Lisbon club in April 2010.
If Dier proves himself at Everton throughout the campaign there is every chance he will be offered a permanent deal with the Toffees at the end of the season.
