Karim Benzema determined to stay and succeed at Real Madrid

Karim Benzema says he is happy at Real Madrid and is determined to win trophies with the club, insisting that he has no intentions of leaving the Spanish capital anytime soon.

The French striker dismissed reports linking him with a move to Arsenal at a press conference today after training and outlined his desire to stay where he is: “I have not talked to anybody, I’m in Madrid, I want to succeed here and nothing more.”

The 23-year-old then welcomed the addition of a third striker to the club, suggesting that he would enjoy the competition for a place in the first-team and that he is confident of securing a place in Jose Mourinho’s starting XI: “It is normal that Real want to sign the best players in the world, I only think about working hard and being successful here. I’m focused 100% in order to do it. My confidence is soaring. It is normal that Real want to sign the best players in the world and it is no problem if another striker comes into the club.”

The former Lyon star also had a few words to say about his compatriot, Zinedine Zidane, who is the new sporting director at Real Madrid: “Zidane is a great player and he helps us a lot. I hope he trains with us some day. He’s been of great help to me.”
