Liverpool target Charles N’Zogbia will definitely leave Wigan this summer, Wigan chairman Dave Whelan confirmed to talkSPORT.
The French winger has been linked with Aston Villa as well as the Reds and Whelan knows he cannot hold onto the 25 year old for next season. N’Zogbia joined the Latics in 2009 for £6m and Wigan will be looking to sell the French international for around £10m.
Whelan said: ‘We have to sell Charles N’Zogbia, because he’s on the last year of his contract. We can’t keep him, if a big club comes for him and he does deserve a big club, because he’s that kind of quality player.’
Kenny Dalglish could turn to sign N’Zogbia, if the proposed transfer of Stewart Downing to the Reds breaks down. Villa are holding out for £20m for the 26 year old and have rebuffed two bids from Liverpool already this summer.

Cissokho to leave Lyon.
French daily newspaper L’Equipe reports that Lyon coach Remi Garde has accepted that full back Aly Cissokho can be sold.
The 23 year old has been targeted by Damien Comolli, Liverpool’s director of football, as a potential signing at left back after they missed out on Gael Clichy and are unwilling to pay £15m for Jose Enrique from Newcastle United. Cissokho could become available for around £7m, as Les Gones look to cash in on the former Porto man.
Cissokho is said to be keen on a move to the Premier League and would have no problem in discussing personal terms, once a fee has been agreed. The French international played 29 Ligue 1 games for Lyon last season, scoring one goal.
Meireles nears Serie A move.
According to The People
, Liverpool midfielder Raul Meireles is set to speak with Italian giants Juventus and Inter Milan over a £12m move.
The Portuguese player impressed last season under Reds manager Kenny Dalglish, but following the arrivals of Charlie Adam and Jordan Henderson, Meireles is set to be offloaded to make room in the Liverpool midfield. Liverpool embark on their pre-season tour today and the 28 year old may stay back to finalise a deal to one of the Italian giants.
Liverpool fans were shocked at the news of Meireles being surplus to requirements at Anfield, especially after his fantastic end to the season. The midfielder played 32 games for the club in his first season on Merseyside and scored five goals, which all came in five successive games.
