Liverpool’s hunt for a new left back continues as they look to sign Hamburg defender Marcell Jansen, the Daily Mail reports.
The Reds have already missed out on Gael Clichy and Fabio Coentrao this summer and a deal for Newcastle left back Jose Enrique is proving hard to agree, so Reds manager Kenny Dalglish is moving on to new targets. German international Jansen is valued at around £10m by the Bundesliga side, looking to make a profit on the £6m they paid for him from Bayern Munich.
Dalglish is also watching Uruguayan defender Alvaro Pereira. The 25 year old currently plays his club football at Portuguese champions Porto, but has a buy-out clause of £18m. The compatriot of Reds striker Luis Suarez could be looking for a move to the Premier League to link up with his South American teammate.

Suarez wants the Copa.
Liverpool forward Luis Suarez insists his main focus is on the Copa America and not winning the Golden Boot, The Liverpool Echo reports.
Suarez is currently in Argentina with his Uruguayan teammates, as they gear up for the Copa America final against Paraguay, and is expected to return to Melwood at the beginning of August to begin his pre-season preparations with the Reds. The striker, signed from Ajax in January, needs one more goal to top the scoring charts, but is prepared to sacrifice the Golden Boot for a record 15th South American title with Uruguay.
‘Being top scorer is not the important thing for me. The main issue is the collective dream of winning the Copa. Personal stuff is secondary to that. We’ll not forget about those titles, but we are thinking about the present, about carrying on winning’, Suarez said.
Morgan eyes break-through.
Young Reds striker Adam Morgan is looking to build on his form from last season and try and break into the reserve team at Anfield, The Liverpool Echo reports.
The 17 year old scored 21 goals in Liverpool’s under 18 campaign last season and spent the summer in Mexico with the England under 17 squad. Since returning to the Kirkby Academy, he has already scored four times in two pre-season friendlies and is hoping he can secure games regularly in the reserve team.
Morgan said: ‘I’ve been raring to go since the end of last season. Mexico was a good experience, but I just want to concentrate on Liverpool now and have a good season. If I can maintain last season’s form, I’ll progress and play for Rodo (Liverpool reserve team manager Rodolfo Borrell) again hopefully’.
