Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is looking to bring in some more few faces into the club regardless of whether Carlos Tevez is sold, ESPN have confirmed.
Mancini is on the verge of making an offer for Athletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero. It is thought that the City boss sees Aguero as the ideal replacement for the want-away Tevez, but has indicated that he would be willing to make an offer for the Argentine even if they keep hold of their skipper.
“I think it is really difficult to buy any players because all the good teams want these players,” The Eastlands chief admitted on Sky Sports. “But I hope that before the game against [Manchester] United [in the Community Shield on August 7] we can have all these players,
“We have two, three targets but it depends. We need to improve because we are at the moment a few players [short] for competition and we need to have other players.”
Mancini still hope to keep Carlos Tevez at the club despite the deal taking him to Corinthians falling through, he stated: “At the moment Carlos is still a City player, like yesterday, like three days ago,” he said.
“In the future we will see what can happen. But for us Carlos is an important player.
“Carlos wants to leave, wants to come back to Argentina or maybe another country for his family. It is only because of this I think that the club accept to sell Carlos, because I think that we respect his reasons.”

Tevez meets Branca.
Speculation that Carlos Tevez will leave Manchester City for a move to Italian giants Inter increased last night, revealed the Telegraph. The player has been caught on camera meeting Macro Branca, head of technical staff at the Milan club.
The meeting took place on Thursday in Sardinia where Tevez is currently holidaying after appearing for Argentina in their Copa America campaign. It is not yet known if the meeting was by chance as Branca is staying at the same hotel as the City talisman in the resort of Porto Cervo, on the Italian island.
“We have been made aware of what appears to be a picture of Carlos Tevez and Marco Branca.” Admitted a club official at the Eastlands club.
Roberto Mancini wants to discuss the Argentines future but has admitted in recent days that the lines of communication are currently down.
The Citizens recently accepted a £40m offer from Brazilian club Corinthians for Tevez but the deal fell through before the Brazilian transfer window closed. City will be looking for an extra £10m for their captain if he opts to join a European club.
Adebayor trains with U18s.
The Metro reports Manchester City want-away striker Emmanuel Adebayor has been forced to train with the clubs Under-18s this week after being left out of the first team’s tour of America.
The 27 year-old hitman has been linked with a move away from Eastlands this summer with possible suitors including Real Madrid & Tottenham Hotspur. The Togo international has set his sights on a move to Spain after spending the second half of last season on loan at Madrid.
City have made it clear they are willing to offload the forward who they signed in the summer of 2009 as they are keen to cut their large wage bill.
If a move to Madrid doesn’t happen Spurs manager Harry Redknapp stated in the week he would be willing to take the out of favour striker on loan: “The chairman Daniel Levy has been speaking about it, I am not sure if it will happen. He is a name that has certainly been mentioned.
‘I spoke to the chairman about loaning the player and if we could work out a deal for him, I would like to bring him to the club.”
