Man Utd news – Fergie backs Nani, Rooney: ‘Pool will challenge, New Park offer

Fergie backs Nani.

Manchester United winger Nani has been reassured of his Manchester United future by Sir Alex Ferguson, according to Sky Sports. With the arrival of Ashley Young from Aston Villa it has been suggested that the Nani could be on his way out of the Manchester club.

Fergie has quashed these rumours by insisting that the Portuguese international is still an integral part of his plans.

“Nani did really well the whole of last season, but (Antonio) Valencia came back and his form was so good it was difficult to leave him out of the team,” Ferguson said. “We will be challenging next season and will play a lot of games.”

Rooney: ‘Pool will challenge.

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney says Liverpool will have a chance of challenging for the Premier League in the coming season. According to BBC Sport, Rooney believes that Liverpool will be one of five teams including United vying for the title.

“I am sure they will be fighting harder than they ever have done to be up there. The main threat is going to be from Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City”, said the Red Devils forward.

Rooney went on to say that he believes the 2010/11 Premier League winners shouldn’t be resting on their laurels and plan on winning “everything” in the coming season.

New Park offer.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has said that Park Ji-Sung has been offered a two-year contract extension, BBC Sport reports. The former South Korean captain’s contract is set to end in 2012 and Ferguson is keen for him to sign the new deal.

“He has been offered a new contract, yes. His career at United has been nothing but excellent. I’m sure he’ll accept the new offer, and tie himself to the club for the next two years,” the United manager said.

The 30-year-old is currently with the rest of the United squad in America as the team continue their tour with a stern test against Major League Soccer outfit Chicago Fire on Saturday.
