Man Utd news – Utd Sneijder hope, Hernandez to miss season start, Reds beat LA

Utd Sneijder hope.

Inter Milan chief executive Ernesto Paolillo has suggested that the club could be read to sell Wesley Sneijder, but Manchester United have not made any contact, according to ESPN Soccernet.

Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson has insisted that United’s summer spending is finished, but the availability of the 27 year old Sneijder could result in a bid being placed by the Premier League champions. Paolillo revealed that they would never say no to the sale of Sneijder, but they have heard no interest from United so far.

‘Are Manchester United still after Sneijder? We haven’t seen or heard from anyone; that’s a story I’ve heard from you (the media). Is Wesley definitely not for sale? I don’t think there’s anything that can’t be sold, it all depends on the price. You never say no if a big opportunity comes your way, but it does have to be a real opportunity’, the Nerazzurri chief executive stated.

A move for Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez could be funded by the sale of Sneijder and Paolillo has stated that he will not go and look for Tevez; the Argentinian has to declare interest to come to the Giuseppe Meazza.

Hernandez to miss season start.

Javier Hernandez will miss the Community Shield after being ruled out for two weeks with concussion, the Daily Mirror reports.

The Mexican star was taken ill to hospital after being hit on the head by a ball in training and was taken to hospital in New Jersey for assessment. The 20 league goal hitman for the Reds last season will definitely miss the 7th August fixture against Manchester City at Wembley and is a worry for the opening league game against West Brom on the 15th August.

Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson said: ‘Chicharito got concussion in training and we dealt with that. We took him to the hospital, he had a scan, it was all clear. But he will be out for a couple of weeks.’

Ferguson also revealed that Chicharito probably would have been unavailable for the next three weeks after his exploits with Mexico at the Gold Cup.

Reds beat LA.

Manchester United recorded an impressive victory over the MLS All-Stars and former captain David Beckham, The Guardian reports.

Goals from Anderson, Park Ji-Sung, Dimitar Berbatov and Danny Welbeck ensured a 4-0 victory for the Premier League champions and they have now scored 18 goals in four pre-season matches over in the United States. New signing Phil Jones lasted the full 90 minutes with Sir Alex Ferguson using 20 players to give his full first team squad a runout.

David De Gea, Ryan Giggs and Rafael were all rested with Javier Hernandez left at the hotel after his injury. United’s next pre-season fixture comes against Barcelona on Saturday, which will round off their pre-season tour of America. United’s other pre-season game comes on Thursday night for Paul Scholes’ testimonial against the New York Cosmos side handpicked by former Manchester United playmaker Eric Cantona.
