Rayo Vallecano fans end protest after meeting with club President

After talks with the Rayo Vallecano hierarchy, the club’s supporter group (La Plataforma ADRV) has ended the three day sit-in protest at the Estadio Teresa Rivero in Vallecas, Madrid.

In an official statement they declared that they had received medium and short-term guarantees from under-fire President Raul Martin Presa about the future direction of the club and had partly resolved the issue of the planned season ticket price rises for the upcoming season.

The President has been under constant pressure since his arrival earlier in May because of the on-going and precarious financial position of the club, all of which has overshadowed their promotion back into the top flight.

According to the ADRV, Martin Presa has acknowledged his mistakes, his lack of communication and a breach of agreements. He has asked the fans for forgiveness and has committed to totally change the negative position taken until now. They also revealed they have had access to information about the current state of the club and understand the directives that are required to take the club forward.

In a summer that so far has seen talk of debts, un-paid players, protests and meetings, the Rayo fans can finally turn at least one eye to football and look forward to the opening day clash at home to R.C.D. Mallorca. However, the group has vowed to keep a very close eye on proceedings and will not hesitate to continue the fight for the preservation and stability of their club.
