Real Madrid are expected to announce the signing of Fabio Coentrao from Benfica for an undisclosed fee in the next day or two, according to A
Los Blancos have been pursuing the 23-year-old for months and reports suggest the Spanish giants have agreed a deal with the Portuguese club and the full-back has signed a five-year deal with Jose Mourinho’s side.
Madrid were unwilling to meet the Aguias’ €30m valuation of the player and instead offered cash plus centre-back Ezequiel Garay in exchange for the Portuguese international.
As the Benfica squad returned to pre-season training, Coentrao flew to Madrid to open negotiations with Los Merengues and his agent and club President were behind him as the clubs reached an agreement.
An official announcement is expected to be made in the near future to confirm the deal as Coentrao becomes the sixth player to join Real Madrid this summer.
