Arsenal and Barcelona finally confirm Fabregas signing

Arsenal announced on Sunday evening via the club´s official website that they have finally reached agreement with Barcelona for the transfer of Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas, who will sign a five-year contract at the Camp Nou.

Andoni Zubizarreta, Barca director of football, has also confirmed in an interview with television station TVE that an agreement between the two clubs is in place. The Catalan club also stated via Twitter that it only lacks the “signing of the definite agreement” and that “Cesc´s medical will take place on Monday.”

Barcelona will pay Arsenal €40m, of which €29m will be fixed with another €6m in add-ons, while the remaining €5m is the sum which Fabregas has agreed to relinquish in wages over the next five years – €1m per season – which Barca have subsequently invested in his signing.
