Arsenal news – Barton wants Gunners move, Barca still keen on Fab, Wilshere return near

Barton wants Gunners move.

Joey Barton is attracting interest from a host of Premier League clubs although it is Arsenal who most wet his appetite, according to the Telegraph.

The Gunners could offer the 28-year-old Champions League football, which is something he desperately craves, although his £70k-a-week wages could prove a stumbling block over any potential Emirates move.

His agent Willie McKay says he has been ‘inundated with interest’, with suitors coming from both the Premier League and abroad – with the latter group including Malaga and Paris St Germain.

Barton has been fined two weeks wages following his Twitter outburst and was made to train on his own on Tuesday.

Barca still keen on Fab.

Pep Guardiola admits Barcelona have not given up hope of signing Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas.

Guardiola has again stoked this perennially burning fire, by saying that despite Fabregas being included in Arsenal’s team’s official team photo, he still sees the midfielder as the final, and missing, piece of Barcelona’s jigsaw.

The Barcelona manager told the Telegraph: “We’re short of just one player and everyone knows which one that is.”

The Gunners have already rejected a £26m bid this summer and until the European champions meet the London club’s £40m valuation, then it is thought no deal will be struck.

Wilshere return near.

The Mail Online is reporting the injury suffered by Jack Wilshere – which was likely to keep him out well into the new season – is not as serious first thought meaning he could yet make Arsenal’s curtain raiser.

The latest scan shows it is just inflammation around the joint rather than suggestions he could have torn something, which would have been bitter news for Arsene Wenger.

The Arsenal manager explained: “It is not very serious, but serious enough that they say he will be out for the whole of next week. It’s inflammation but he has not torn anything.” He added.

“He is a quick healer usually and a tough boy, so I hope he will heal more quickly than the medical prediction.”
