Chelsea news – Blues near Lukaku deal, Romeu keen to impress, Alex near exit

Blues near Lukaku deal.

Romelu Lukaku’s future at Anderlecht looks less certain after the club’s general manager, Herman van Holsbeeck admitted that it ‘depends upon Chelsea’ to conclude a deal, reports The Guardian.

The Brussels club have demanded that their price be met by Chelsea and are merely waiting for Chelsea to raise their offer otherwise a deal cannot be done. The two clubs have been negotiating the youngster’s future for most of the summer and Anderlecht have said they are waiting for Roman Abramovich to meet their price and the deal ‘can be fixed tomorrow.’

‘There are on-going negotiations and Chelsea know what we want,’ Herman van Holsbeeck, also said.

The highly-rated Belgian striker has stated his own intent to move to Chelsea.

‘I am waiting very calmly for the phone call that will tell me everything has been agreed between the clubs,’ Lukaku said yesterday.

Romeu keen to impress.

Chelsea’s latest addition Oriol Romeu is keen to impress after sealing his reported £4.35m move from Champions League winners Barcelona, Sky Sports reports.

The Spanish youngster put pen to paper on a four-year deal on Thursday and Romeu is excited for the new campaign to start.

‘Chelsea is a great option for me. Leaving Barca hurts, but you have to take your chances.’ Romeu said.

The midfielder is currently with the Spanish U20 squad in Colombia and will join his new team-mates later in the month.

Alex near exit.

Chelsea defender Alex looks set to leave after the club slapped a £10m price tag on him, the Daily Mail reports.

The Brazilian was largely out of favour last season and with new boss Andre Villas Boas’ arrival the 29-year old’s future looks in doubt. Zenit St Petersburg and Juventus are just two of what is thought to be a furious battle for his signature.

Zenit made an offer for the player in May which was turned down and are considering a new bid to shore up their defence.
