If Chelsea decide not to make a fresh bid for Spurs midfielder Luka Modric, Real Madrid playmaker Kaka could become available for the Blues, according to the Metro.
Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas is determined to add more creativity to his squad before the start of the season and his attempts for Javier Pastore were unsuccessful, as the Argentinian joined Paris St. Germain last week. The Chelsea board are discussing with their manager whether to make a third bid for Modric and if no deal can be reached, Kaka has become available for the Blues.
The Brazilian superstar has struggled to make an impact at the Santiago Bernabeau since his £56m move from AC Milan in 2009 and Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has decided that the 29 year old is not part of his plans for the new campaign. He is reportedly available for around £25m and Chelsea are the only option after AC Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani ruled out bringing the Brazilian back to the San Siro.

Modric decision near.
Chelsea are considering making a third bid for Tottenham playmaker Luka Modric as they try to pry him away from White Hart Lane, The Sun reports.
The Blues are ready to improve their offer to £30m, but will not break the bank to bring in the Croatian midfielder. Spurs have already rejected bids of £22m and £27m for the unsettled midfielder and a third bid for Modric could be accepted by Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy. Levy had stood firm over the move and claimed that Modric would not be sold, but with Modric’s unhappiness, a move away from North London could be possible for the 25 year old.
Blues chief executive Ron Gourlay has spoken to new Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas over potential transfer targets this summer and Modric is expected to be top of the list. Gourlay is hoping that the Blues can bring in more players before the start of the season in two weeks.
Gourlay said: ‘I don’t like talking about players from other clubs. But that’s something we’ll look at during the week and we’ll take it from there. We really need to sit down with Andre and talk this through. Even though we’ve been travelling in the Far East for the past two weeks, you can still be active in the marketplace nowadays. The communication is always there’.
Lamps backs McEachran.
Veteran Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has praised the performances of young midfielder Josh McEachran, Sky Sports reports.
The 18-year-old midfielder has caught the eye with a string of impressive matches in pre-season and is in line for more regular opportunities under Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas. Lampard is pleased with the progress McEachran has made, but is not yet ready to give up his position in midfield.
Lampard said: ‘I’m 33 and I’m the same. I feel good. I feel experienced, I feel as hungry, I feel like I missed most of last season really with the injuries I never had before, so there is a desire to get going again. I think Josh does give us something different. He gives us something in the middle of the park, a great elegance in the way he plays.
‘There will be a position for him, he’s not going to play 50 games this season, but you can see from pre-season already that he is going to be involved a lot more and that’s great for him’, Lampard added.
