Chelsea news – Kakuta loan deal, Redknapp gives Modric deal green light, AVB tips McEachran

Kakuta loan deal.

Chelsea are prepared to send French winger Gael Kakuta on loan for this season, according to the Daily Mail. The 20-year-old failed to make an impact while at Fulham last season, and is now wanted by French side Lille, for a year-long loan deal.

The chances of Kakuta playing at Chelsea seem bleak with the abundance of talent in the squad. And the Blues will be hoping the youngster can pick up some valuable first-team experience before returning to the club next season. Kakuta will join several other Chelsea youngsters who have been loaned out this season. Including highly-rated starlets like Jeffrey Bruma and Patrick van Aanholt.

Redknapp gives Modric deal green light.

After much persistence it appears that Chelsea are closing in on their summer target, Luka Modric. According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has finally given his consent for the sale of the Croatian. The Spurs manager is willing to let the £35m playmaker leave, while utilizing the transfer fee to bring in three top quality strikers to White Hart Lane. However, chairman Daniel Levy is still not convinced.

Chelsea are rumoured to be ready with a final bid of over £30m for the Croatian, and the decision of whether to accept it or not will lie with the chairman, Levy.

Andre Villas-Boas tips McEachran.

Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has claimed he will turn Josh McEachran into a midfield great, according the Daily Star. The highly-rated teenager is surprisingly not heading for a loan to pick up first-team experience, and the manager believes he has what it takes to warrant a place in the side.

“In the changing room you see him getting ready to go and train and he looks nothing like a footballer. (But) His brain is always five yards ahead of the rest. His power and pace is in his head,” said the 33-year-old manager.

The manager also compared Josh to the likes of Luka Modric, citing the build and physique of a player has nothing to do with becoming a great footballer.
