Romelu Lukaku is just days away from joining his new team-mates at Stamford Bridge, reports the Daily Star. The striker was in London yesterday and took part in a medical at Chelsea’s training ground in Cobham.
The striker will now head back home for Belgium’s friendly with Slovenia, before returning on Thursday to agree personal terms with the club and beginning his career at Stamford Bridge.
At 6ft 4ins, Lukaku is an intimidating force with a dangerous left foot. The 18-year-old helped himself to 16 league goals last term, while also scoring his first international goals for Belgium.

AVB eyes Porto duo.
Chelsea are in a race with Paris Saint-Germain to sign Porto wing-back Alvaro Pereira, according to the Daily Mail. Chelsea manager Villas-Boas is keen to replace the void left behind by Yury Zhirkov.
Pereira boasts the same versatility of Zhirkov and has the ability to play in midfield or defence. The star also impressed during the Copa America, and played a huge part in Uruguay’s success, scoring twice in the tournament.
The 25-year-old was a regular under Villas-Boas at Porto, which could pose a problem in luring him to Chelsea, where the competition for a starting place is much higher. The player has a £25million buy-out clause, but the Blues will first have to see off PSG in order to sign him.
Lampard to miss out.
Frank Lampard will miss out on a chance to prove his critics wrong, and impress Fabio Capello on Wednesday. The England international will not feature in the mid-week clash with Holland due to a throat infection.
Lampard has suffered the brunt of critics’ words recently, who have suggested he is on borrowed time with England, with the arrival of younger stars like Jack Wilshere representing a new era in the team. But with Wilshere missing the friendly due to an ankle injury, this was a great opportunity for the veteran to prove his worth.
According to Sky Sports, Lampard was down with the virus on Monday morning but was keen to shrug it off. However, it was decided to send the midfielder back to his club for treatment.
