Days at Sevilla numbered for Alfaro and Romaric

Sevilla have announced their squad numbers for the season and two of last season’s first-team squad players have not been assigned one. Striker Alejandro Alfaro and Ivory Coast midfielder Christian Romaric have failed to convince the coaching staff of their importance to the squad and in turn have not been given numbers.

The two players have been linked with moves away from the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan this summer, particularly Romaric who, despite his apparent reluctance to leave the club, appears to be on the verge of a move to 2009/10 Turkish champions Bursaspor.

Alfaro, who has been in and around the first-team since the 2006/07 season and spent two years on loan at Tenerife, also seems to be on the way out and several La Liga clubs are understood to be interested in the former Spanish Under-21 international after a move to Premier League side Bolton Wanderers failed to materialise. Although question marks have been hanging over the heads of the duo, there has not been any official statement from the club so far. However this news appears to have settled their fate.

Other notable changes to the squad numbers include 18-year-old midfielder Jose Campana receiving the No 16 shirt made famous by Antonio Puerta and vacated by Diego Capel, whilst Tom De Mul and Arouna Kone have been left off the squad list.
