Espanyol sign Weiss with Pandiani and Poulsen also targeted

Manchester City winger Vladimir Weiss has agreed to join Espanyol on a season-long loan as boss Mauricio Pochettino looks to strengthen his attacking options following the opening day 1-0 defeat at Real Mallorca. The Slovakian international has already passed a medical at the Cornella El-Prat and will be officially unveiled next week after participating in his country´s Euro 2012 qualifiers against Republic of Ireland and Armenia.

Weiss, 21, has been a victim of City´s extravagant spending policy over the last couple of years since joining the club´s youth academy from Inter Bratislava in 2006, making just one league appearance for the Blues as a substitute in the final game of the 2008/09 season, a 1-0 win over Bolton Wanderers.

In January, 2010 he agreed a loan move to Bolton, but was mainly limited to a role on the bench in his four months at the Reebok before agreeing to join Glasgow Rangers for the 2010/11 season in another loan deal. His time in Scotland was more successful, five goals in 35 league and cup games helping the Gers to a Scottish Premier League and League Cup double.
