Football League confirms all London games will go ahead this weekend

The Football League has confirmed after co-operation with the Metropolitan Police that all of this weekend’s games in London will take place.

The news comes following the postponement of Saturday’s Premier League clash between Tottenham and Everton and also the loss of three Carling Cup games in the capital on Tuesday due to the London riots.

However the Football League have confirmed this will not be the case on Saturday and issued the following statement:

Following on-going discussions with the Metropolitan Police, statutory authorities and Clubs in London, The Football League can confirm that all League games in the capital will go ahead as scheduled this weekend.

The Football League has worked closely with the authorities and London-based clubs throughout the recent civil unrest to ensure matches are staged in accordance with supporter safety.

Acting on current information from the authorities there is no reason to believe matches outside of London will be affected at this time.
