Leon has been sidelined by Jose Mourinho, barely featuring last term and finding himself training separately during pre-season, and remaining in Spain for Los Blancos’ tour across the US, Europe and China.
His former club Getafe, who sold him to Real in 2010 for €10m, have been keen for several weeks to recapture his services, but only on a loan deal, one that Real are reluctant to sanction, as they are believed to be pushing for a permanent deal in the region of €8m.
Negotiations have not moved beyond this stage, but it is understood the player has informally agreed to the return, but also on Getafe’s terms of a loan deal, as he is otherwise keen to remain a Real Madrid player to then fight for a first team place at the Bernabeu in future seasons.
