Getafe’s Luis Garica hints at Pedro Leon return

In a Press conference held after today’s training session Getafe’s Coach Luis Garcia indicated that the out-of-favour Real Madrid winger Pedro Leon could return to the club where he made such an impact in 2009-10.

Rumours of a deal have been circulating for some time with the prospect of a loan move with an option to purchase seeming the most likely. Garcia admitted: “We need to strengthen several positions” but emphasised that he would operate “without haste,” adding that: “Hopefully, Pedro Leon will come because he is a great player.”

In his last spell for the club the 24-year-old winger scored eight league goals and provided nine assists for the Azulones helping them to a sixth place finish in La Liga. Last season – following his departure, they endured a terrible run of form and finished the season in 16th place, narrowly avoiding relegation on the final day.

Getafe continue their pre-season build-up with a game against AEK Athens on Saturday and Garcia is unconcerned about the team’s indifferent pre-season form so far. He revealed he was pretty satisfied with their performances and explained: “every game we played with about eight or nine players who are not in the first team. “

It is believed that new signing and former Real Madrid B player Pablo Sarabia will miss the game in Athens after bruising his ankle representing Spain in their recent European Under-19 Championship success.
