Griezmann confirms he wants to join Atletico Madrid, criticises Real Sociedad

Antoine Griezmann has declared his intention is to leave Real Sociedad this summer and join Atletico Madrid.

The Rojiblancos have targeted the versatile winger through the summer and are understood to be interested in a player-plus-cash offer to meet the €15m valuation on the winger, who has a €30m buy-out clause.

Currently on international duty with France at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup, Griezmann is quoted in L’Equipe as saying: “Atletico’s project appeals to me. I’ve made the decision that I want to go to Atletico Madrid, a side that regularly competes in Europe.”

Griezmann told the French publication his desire to progress to the senior French national team is part of the ambition to switch clubs, before he also criticised Sociedad’s management: “For months I was promised a new contract, and told that I was important to the club, but I’ve not heard anything from Real Sociedad in three weeks.”

It follows comments the player made three weeks ago, reported in AS: “My agent has told me of their interest. It is a club that appeals to me. Atl
