Highly-rated Rotherham striker Adam Le Fondre is understood to have handed in a transfer request in an attempt to seal a quick move away from the club.
With the transfer deadline looming just seven days away the 24-year-old is eager to play at a higher level and has put himself in the shop window already this season with four goals in just five starts.
He boasts an impressive goal tally of 59 goals in 107 appearances during his time with the Millers and told skysports.com
“Whilst I have a year left on my current deal, the club absolutely understand my feelings on the matter. I have made clear I want to prove myself at a higher level and I am in no doubt they will respect my wishes should a suitable bid come in.”
Rotherham have enjoyed an unbeaten start to the season and currently occupy 2nd place in League Two, and the club surely be looking to push through any potential move as quick as possible to focus on the unenviable task of replacing Le Fondre before the window slams shut.
Sheffield Wednesday and Coventry City are rumoured to be in the front-running for the Offerton-born front-man with both having bids rejected this summer.
