Leicester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has confirmed that the club have chosen not to pursue a deal to bring out-of-contract midfielder Owen Hargreaves to the club.
Hargreaves, who was released by Premier League champions Manchester United in May, was understood to have been on Eriksson’s radar this summer but the Swede told BBC
“It will not happen now. If it was going to happen it would have already been done but now it is too late.”
Hargreaves endured a tumultuous four years at Old Trafford making just 39 appearances and has recently posted daily fitness videos on YouTube in an attempt to convince interested parties that his injury-plagued days are behind him.
Meanwhile Sky Sports understands that Leicester are poised to complete the signing of Swiss international Gelson Fernandes on a season-long loan deal from St Etienne.
