Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt is confident Liverpool can beat Arsenal today, but will not underestimate the challenge they face, liverpoolfc.tv reports.
The Gunners have lost Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona in the past week and suspensions to Alex Song and Gervinho rule them out of the line-up. Injuries to key players such as Jack Wilshere and the imminent departure of Samir Nasri also weaken the Arsenal squad, but Kuyt is not prepared to think about an easy contest. The Dutch striker is convinced Liverpool can pick up three points, but still expects a tough encounter with Arsene Wenger’s side.
Kuyt said: “They’ve got a great team and players, not just 11, so they will still be a very strong team on the pitch. But we’ve got to look at ourselves and if we can perform the way we can and are 100 per cent focused on the things we want to do, we have a great chance of getting a good result.”
The Dutchman scored a late penalty at the Emirates last season to give Liverpool a point and knock Arsenal out of the title race. Kuyt has backed Arsene Wenger’s side to be right up with the title challengers and is focused on getting a good result in North London.

Pacheco set for exit.
Liverpool forward Daniel Pacheco is a target for Spanish club Rayo Vallecano, talkSPORT reports.
The Spanish striker has made just 14 first team appearances in all competitions for the Reds since his arrival from Barcelona in 2007. Pacheco spent a month on loan at Norwich last season, but Paul Lambert has made no offer or interest in a permanent move for the youngster.
Pacheco is looking for a permanent move to end his Anfield nightmare and the 20-year-old could secure a move to La Liga at the start of next week. Vallecano and Liverpool representatives are ironing out the nominal details between the two clubs.
Martinez admits Rodallega could leave.
Wigan manager Roberto Martinez is hoping to retain striker Hugo Rodallega, but admits that he could lose the forward before the end of the transfer window, according to The Mirror.
Rodallega has delayed contract talks with the Latics and Liverpool and Tottenham are weighing up moves to bring the Colombian into their squads. Martinez is keen to keep Rodallega, but the lure of a club that fights for European football instead of against relegation could turn Rodallega’s head – just as it did Charles N’Zogbia this summer.
Martinez has spoken about the interest and admits that it becomes impossible to keep players at Wigan when the interest of the big clubs becomes aware. Liverpool are interested in bringing Rodallega to complement their strikers in Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll and the transfer would allow them to sell on David N’Gog, who is lining up a switch to Bolton.
The Spanish manager, who led Wigan to safety last season, said: “He is a very important part of our plans. If he does well enough, it’s only fair that we do not stand in his way if the chance of a big move comes along. Unless we can go on to the next level, and perhaps make it into one of the European competitions, it is impossible to keep players when they are in the best moments of their career.”
