Malaga launch Facebook shirt lottery

To promote their new Nike-branded shirt for the forthcoming 2011-12 season, Malaga have devised a unique lottery system via their Facebook page.

Winners of this lottery will be able to purchase one of only 25 limited edition versions of the newly designed shirts 10 days ahead of the official launch. The club has switched to the well-known Nike brand after using the relatively unheard-of Chinese firm Li-Ling last season.

To be in with a chance fans will need to register as a fan on Facebook before Sunday and the lucky winners will be announced prior to a Press conference on August 9.

The move is thought to be the first of many new initiatives to stimulate and interact with the ever-growing fan base at the Andalusian club who are looking to boost their commercial activities.

The popularity of the club has increased significantly since the takeover last year by Qatari billionaire Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Al-Thani. The deal has put them firmly on the radar of world football and the addition of popular ex-Real Madrid Coach Manuel Pellegrini and several key signings including Ruud van Nistelrooy and Santi Cazorla has further enhanced their profile.
