Messi set for Supercopa despite separate pre-season schedule

Lionel Messi is set to play in the Supercopa de Espana despite not taking part in pre-season with Barcelona.

The Argentine forward has been working separately through the summer after his involvement with his country in the 2011 Copa America. Fitness Coach Juanjo Brau flew out to Argentina to work with the No 10 on a separate schedule, whilst Barcelona agreed not to then select the forward for the US pre-season tour, as previously anticipated.

Instead, the forward, who scored 53 goals last season to become the first Spanish League player to ever surpass the 50-goal mark, has returned to Catalonia and has been using the club’s facilities at Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper in Sant Joan Desp
