Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos a doubt for Supercopa as back pains flare up

Sergio Ramos’ pre-season injury concerns are far from over, with the Real Madrid right-back forced off against Tianjin Teda with back pains.

Ramos suffered this same complaint in the team’s first pre-season match of the summer against LA Galaxy, and despite then returning to training and playing a part two weeks later against Leicester City, the team’s 6-0 win over Chinese side Tianjin Teda was overshadowed by a recurrence of the issue.

Jose Mourinho has expressed his concern over the Madrid vice-captain’s injury, explaining that club doctors had carefully monitored the situation from its original occurrence in the US, and saw that there was no reaction when he played later in the summer. The Coach hinted at the quality of the pitch Real were playing at could have had an impact on the 25-year-old’s injury.

Replaced by promising Real Madrid Castilla defender Nacho Fernandez during Saturday’s friendly, there are now doubts over his fitness for the Supercopa de Espana first leg clash with Barcelona on August 14.
