Real Sociedad are understood to be in advanced negotiations to renew the contracts of Xabi Prieto and David Zurutuza.
Following on from last week’s announcement that La Real had signed Spain Under-19 international Ruben Pardo to an improved deal, the more established first-team names of Prieto and Zurutuza are next on the club’s list.
Both midfielders’ current deals expire in 2013, with the club believed to be pushing to extend at least a further two years, if not three. Sociedad – currently fourth in La Liga after one round of games – are also negotiating an extension for Pablo Hervias, whose contract expires next summer, and has already attracted interest elsewhere, including from Basque rivals Athletic Bilbao.
In an otherwise quiet summer period, La Real’s prominent focus in the market has been contract renewals. Only Carlos Vela and McDonald Mariga have arrived at Anoeta, and both on loan.
