Rodgers happy with Swansea Premier League preparation

Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers has told Wales Online that he believes his squad is progressing perfectly towards being ready for their debut season in the Premier League.

On Wednesday night, goals from Angel Rangel & Stephen Dobbie ensured the Swans of a 2-0 friendly victory over Celtic, a game in which the Welsh side handed new recruit Leroy Lita, signed from Middlesborough for £1.75m, his debut.

Whilst this latest on-field triumph was of great satisfaction to manager Rodgers, so to was the quality of Swansea’s performance, which he hopes his side can improve upon and carry forward to August 15th when they play Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in the first round of 2011-2012 Premier League fixtures.

“We have been looking to build our intensity and it was a great exercise for us against a very strong team who are already underway in the SPL,” said Rodgers of Swansea’s win over Celtic before going on to voice the extent to which he has been encouraged by his side’s pre-season work. “The group are improving all the time, especially over the last fortnight and by the time the Manchester City game comes around we will be in great shape. Things are going perfectly.”
