Sevilla – Malaga: Sevilla attempt to shake off Europa League hangover against a strong Malaga side

Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, Seville

Sevilla will be hoping to start their Liga campaign better than their European one after crashing out of the qualifying stages of the Europa League at the hands of Hannover 96. They face a Malaga team full of new faces after a summer in which they spent over €58m.

New Sevilla Coach Marcelino Garcia Toral will hope striker Alvaro Negredo will continue his prolific La Liga form after his 20 goals last season. New signings Piotr Trochowski and Manu de Moral could start after featuring in Thursday’s Europa League game.

Malaga’s brand new team, who were impressive in pre-season, will hope to carry their friendly form into the League. Young forward Salomon Rondon, who impressed last season, should flourish further with new teammates Joaquin and Santi Cazorla supporting him.

Sevilla (4-3-3): Palop; Navarro, Escude, Caceres, Coke; Navas, Trochowski, Perotti; de Moral, Kanoute, Negredo

Malaga(4-2-3-1): Caballero; Gamez, Demichelis, Stadsgaard, Monreal; Toulalan, Camacho; Joaquin, Cazorla, Eliseu; Rondon

League form: Sevilla last five home D-W-W-L-W
Malaga last five away W-L-W-W-D
