Sunday evening saw Atletico Madrid pick up their first league win of the season as they thrashed Racing Santander 4-0.
Colombian international Radamel Falcao was the man to make the telling difference and he opened the scoring on 23 minutes when he received a cut-back from Jose Reyes before turning and burying his shot.
Atletico’s record signing grabbed his second13 minutes later, this time from the penalty spot. Osmar collided with Diego in the area and the referee somewhat harshly pointed to the spot and Falcao netted.
Falcao secured his hat-trick ten minutes after half time as the former River Plate man received a brilliant defence-splitting pass from Arda Turan before lifting the ball over Tono in the Racing net.
Atletico added a fourth with just under quarter of an hour to go as Adrian – who replaced the injured Diego at halftime – headed home an Arda cross.
