Bielsa accomplishes first win as Athletic Bilbao boss


Athletic Bilbao boss Marcelo Bielsa declared himself satisfied with his team’s performance in the 2-1 defeat of Slovan Bratislava in Group F of the Europa League and hopes it is a ‘starting point’ for Los Leones to get their season up and running.

“Winning has broken the trend of losing to, or not being able to beat, teams that were in no way better than us. That’s good, although we will see the effects of it on Sunday,” he said.

First-half goals from Markel Susaeta and Iker Muniain were enough to see off a spirited Slovakian side and give Bielsa his first competitive win since taking charge at San Mam
