Cech reveals weekend injury scare

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has revealed his relief after avoiding a serious head injury in the game against Fulham in the Carling Cup. The Czech international was caught by Fulham striker Orlando Sa towards the end of the second half, and had feared the worst.

According to Sky Sports, Cech was glad to have been wearing his protective head gear, which he felt had absorbed most of the impact and saved him from a horrific injury on the lines of the Stephen Hunt incident.

Describing the moment Cech said: “My head went back like when you get a right hook in boxing. There was no way I could continue, although I had played for the last two minutes of the half.”
