Neil Lennon and Celtic are said to be fuming after Chelsea agreed a pre-contract agreement with 16-year-old Islam Feruz. The Scotland youth international is said to have signed a £2,500 a week pre-contract deal at Stamford Bridge.
Celtic will be given compensation for their loss, but Neil Lennon and assistant Johan Mjallby have both spoke out at their disappointment at the youngsters decision. The Celtic manager himself certainly didn’t hold back his feelings about the situation.
“I think he’s been badly advised. I don’t think the football is the main issue here. He was going along very nicely when he had a good agent in John Colquhoun, then for some reason he decided to let somebody else come in and take over,”
However Feruz’s agent Rui Alves defended criticism of himself and his player, by claiming that ‘it was in Islam’s heart’ to move to Stamford Bridge.
