Chelsea news – AVB seeks Torres explanation, Ballack to be commemorated, Drogba to miss Utd clash

AVB seeks Torres explanation.

Andre Villas-Boas has refused to take Fernando Torres’ public criticism of his Chelsea team-mates lightly. According to the Daily Star, Torres had described his team-mates as ‘old’ and ‘slow’ in an interview taken during international duty.

The interview was later posted on a Spanish website, as well as Torres’ personal web page. But on being questioned on the matter by club manager, Andre Villas-Boas, Fernando has claimed he was simply mistranslated.

Villas-Boas however is not convinced and has asked for an original transcript of the interview to be reviewed. The Portuguese manager has also planned face-to-face talks with the Chelsea No.9 once the investigation is concluded.

Ballack to be commemorated.

Former Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack may have been shown the Stamford Bridge exit unexpectedly in 2010. However the German’s Champions League return is being highly anticipated by both the club and fans.

Ballack will return representing his current team Bayer Leverkusen, and though it is unclear whether the legendary No.13 will take the field, his return will still be celebrated by his former club.

The Blues have planned a special presentation, which will take place before the start of the match. The presentation is to commemorate the contribution of Michael Ballack to the London club, where he spent four years. “The presentation is a very nice gesture and it will be a very emotional moment for me,” said Michael to the Official Chelsea Website.

Drogba to miss Utd clash.

Didier Drogba will not be fit in time to take on rivals Manchester United, according to reports from The Guardian. The 33-year-old suffered a knock on the head during Chelsea’s game against Norwich City and is still recovering from a concussion.

The striker also suffered damage to his teeth after falling to the ground, but fortunately the brain scans revealed no serious problems. With Drogba unavailable, it could well mean Daniel Sturridge will continue to feature after scoring for Chelsea against Sunderland at the weekend.
