Unai Emery has promised that Valencia will improve their defensive game ahead of a difficult run of fixtures in the League and Europe.
The declaration follows an opening weekend win over Racing Santander, that whilst being notable for the high score-line – 4-3 – and Roberto Soldado’s hat-trick, was also for Los Che’s uncertain defending at times.
As a result, Emery has responded in the market with Antonio Barragan and Victor Ruiz arriving, and in training with the promise that for the coming fixture schedule that: “We

Valencia face Atletico Madrid at Mestalla on Saturday evening before seeing the following weekend’s match with Sporting Gijon followed by matches with Barcelona and Sevilla. Immediately preceding the Sporting fixture is the club’s opening Champions League match away to Genk, whilst late September’s away meeting with Sevilla is followed by a home clash in Europe with Chelsea.
Dani Parejo, who sat out Week 2’s win over Racing, has declared himself ready for first-team action, and hopeful that it comes against Atletlico.
