Espanyol chief has parting shot at Pablo Osvaldo

Espanyol chief executive Joan Collet has strongly criticised Pablo Osvaldo following the striker’s comments directed towards Los Periquitos after his €15m move to Roma and his decision to travel to Italy without permission. The Argentine-born Italy Under-21international told Corriere dello Sport on arriving in Rome that he had signed for “a big club, not one such as Espanyol, Fiorentina and Bologna,” his previous employers.

“He showed a lack of respect towards the coaching staff, who put their faith in him when nobody knew him, the club directors who made his move from Bologna possible and all Espanyol supporters,” said Collet. “His reasons for leaving were an excuse. He went for the money. As a ´perico´ I am convinced Osvaldo did not deserve to wear our club’s shirt. In a sporting sense we were not happy with his departure, but economically his sale was good for us.”
