Everton star Tim Cahill has publicly backed under-pressure club chairman Bill Kenwright, following a pre-match protest before Everton’s 2-2 draw with Aston Villa on Saturday.
A section of supporters have become disillusioned after another summer of little investment in the club, and no sign of a potential new buyer. Yet the Australia international, talking to the club’s official website, revealed his positivity for the rest of the season:
“We’re really positive. We back everything that happens and we’re here to make sure that we fight for this club. The boys today showed how much we care for this football club.”
In a call to the protesting fans, Cahill declared: “We know that they have their own opinions but it would be a lot better if we could just get on with it and work together and support everything that’s going on because this is a club that everyone talks about – the good times and the bad times.”
